The Story

Hello, my name is Niklaus Serafino Setiadi, and I am currently participating in an exchange program at Hogeschool Rotterdam, the Netherlands.

I feel incredibly fortunate to have been awarded the Tuition Fee Waiver Scholarship, which allows me to study here without paying tuition fees. However, I still work to cover my living expenses while staying in the Netherlands.
As a student in the "Business & Society" minor program, I have been learning about the relationship between business and society. At Hogeschool Rotterdam, we apply theory directly to real-world situations. For example, in our first project, my team and I helped a local F&B store by analyzing the potential of untapped foreign tourism markets, which resulted in increased visits from international tourists.

Additionally, I was nominated and selected as a Research Assistant by the professors in my program. In this role, I assist with various research needs. In our second project, we worked on addressing housing issues in Rotterdam, focusing on the difficulties students and local workers face when trying to find accommodation. We collaborated with the municipality of Rotterdam and one of the largest housing corporations in the Netherlands to develop potential solutions. Along with being a Research Assistant, I also served as the Team Leader for this project.

I was also given the opportunity to attend the ZIE 2025 (Zuid-Holland Industrie Event), where I had the chance to network with professionals from various industries both in the Netherlands and internationally.
Outside of my academic pursuits, I have worked in the hospitality industry, which has provided me with valuable work experience and allowed me to build new and diverse connections.
As a student from Atma Jaya University Yogyakarta, I am truly grateful for the opportunity to learn and grow in the Netherlands. This experience has opened up numerous opportunities for my future.
