Hiii, my name is Jonathan Prila Putra Sadewa, and in this 6th semester, I was an exchange student at Kwansei Gakuin University, Japan. 

This is one of the best memories I will ever have after I return home because Japan is one of my dream countries to visit. I'm so grateful that I had the opportunity to come here as a student this year. In this program, I am not alone. I’m accompanied by Vincent, who is also an international student from IBMP, and I also have two friends here from Indonesia, one from Bandung and the other from Jakarta. 

At this university, my major is International Studies, and I’ve learned a lot about culture and language. I also took several subjects related to Business, Human Resource Management, and International Conflicts. 

As an Indonesian student from a developing country, I was really surprised to see how students from developed countries think and solve problems. In my opinion, their mindset and problem solving skills go beyond the average Indonesian student. In this exchange program, I’m here with 150 students from many countries such as the US, England, Finland, Iceland, Italy, South Korea, Taiwan, Vietnam, Sweden, and many others. 

Here, I live in a very nice dorm in a very clean country, you will rarely see trash on the streets. I can say almost none. Being a student here is not cheap. The cost of living and food is quite expensive, but all the expenses are worth it because of the memories and experiences that money can’t buy. It was really hard to come here because Kwansei Gakuin University does not have an MOU with Atma Jaya University, so once again, I believe it was God’s plan that brought us here. It’s already been a month since I arrived in this beautiful country. 

Lastly, I just want to thank God for this opportunity, and of course, my parents who have always supported me. For anyone reading this who also wants to go to Japan, I’ll always support you. Keep fighting through the long process, because the results will never betray your efforts.
